Being born in Oaxaca Mexico has been a major inspiration in my current artwork. Sometimes it’s hard to disconnect from one’s own
culture and roots when you have lived in a different country for so long as well as become a costumed to the different lifestyle it offers. As an artist one way that helps reconnect and in a sense help me claim back my indigenous Mexican roots is through my art. Creating art pieces that are inspired by my homeland makes me feel as if I’m tapping into my true inner self when I’m drawing or painting. I like to incorporate flora and fauna which are representational in Mexican art. I also have an affinity and love for Renaissance art. For me I have always loved art that values classical antiquity. Such as Greek and Roman art that inspired the Renaissance art movement. My current style mixes both traditional Renaissance style with additions of colorful flora and fauna found in traditional Mexican folklore art.
