World Art Day Festival & Art in the Park FAQ's

  1. When is the World Art Day Festival?  What time does it start and end? The World Art Day Festival takes place each year on the Saturday closest to the calendar date April 15, which is the nationally recognized World Art Day.  This year, the festival will be on Saturday, April 11, 2026.  The festival starts at 10:00 AM and ends at 2:00 PM.
  2. Where does the festival take place? The festival will take place at Palm Springs Downtown Park, 101 N. Museum Dr., Palm Springs, CA 92262.
  3. How long is the festival? The festival will be four hours of entertainment, vendors, program information, and hands-on art extravaganza! Bring your inner artist along for the event.
  4. Where will the performances take place?  There is a concrete stage located closest to Museum Dr. and Museum Way. This is where our DJ and performers will meet and perform.
  5. Where is the best place to park?The best place to park is the parking structure located on the corner of N. Balardo Rd and N. Museum Dr. and the corner of W. Tahquitz Canyon Way and N. Museum Dr. The Palm Springs Museum parking is only for volunteers and patrons for the museum. 
  6. What happens in the case of inclement weather?The festival will be cancelled if the weather is classified as dangerous for the performers and the patrons. Although, in light rain and wind, the show must go on!
  7. Are any chairs provided for the festival?  Chairs are not provided for the festival, but there are a few park benches, tables and chairs that are located throughout the park for seating. Feel free to bring lounge chairs and blankets to the event.
  8. How should we dress for the festival? The weather can be very warm in April, dress comfortably, but also bring a light jacket just in case the weather cools down. Feel free to come dressed in fun and creative attire to match the vibes for the festival. (Please keep it family friendly)
  9. Will disabled parking be available?  Yes, ADA designated parking spaces are available in both parking locations.
  10. Should I bring anything?  May I bring a cooler?  Please feel free to bring blankets and/or lawn chairs to sit on.  You may bring your own food and beverage, but please note: No Alcohol is permitted. There will be food trucks/vendors with food available for purchase.
  11. What time should we plan on getting there?  All vendors, activities, and entertainment will be available throughout the duration of the festival. Live artists will start at 10:00 AM but may finish as late as 2:00 PM, the artwork will be displayed until 2:00 PM.
  12. How many people attend the festival?  Last year the festival saw over 300 people.
  13. Do I need a ticket?The festival is free to everyone and open to the public.
  14. What’s in the festival? What can we expect to see?  The festival is a fun, inclusive, and diverse celebration for the Arts. You can expect to see artists from all across the Coachella Valley creating painted panels live! Programs that showcase art activities for all ages, businesses that specialize in the arts, and local up and coming performers that are from the Coachella Valley.
  15. If we need to cancel our participation, what should we do?  If we cancel participation, can we get a refund of our application fee? Please contact the World Art Day Festival Coordinator Krystalynn Paquette at 760.323.8272 Ext. 1057 or events@palmspringsca.gov.
  16. Who are the people in the pink/yellow shirts?  The people in the pink t-shirts are city staff and yellow shirts are volunteers who are available to answer any question you may have about the festival.
  17. Is there a lost and found area at the festival? Yes, the lost and found is located off N. Museum Dr. and Museum Way closest to the Museum entrance.
  18. Is the festival suitable for children? Absolutely!  This family-friendly festival is suitable for the whole family!
  19. Who organizes the festival? The festival is hosted by the City of Palm Springs Department of Parks & Recreation along with our generous sponsors.
  20. What is the theme of the festival?  This year’s theme is Authentically Be Yourself!
  21. Who participates in the festival? How do I get involved to participate in the festival? The City of Palm Springs looks for involvement from local businesses, non-profits, and community programs that participate in the “Arts.” Local Palm Springs Unified School District (PSUSD) students will be showcasing their artwork as well as local artists from Coachella Valley. Up-and-coming performers or theater programs will be invited to participate in the entertainment aspect of the festival.   22. How can my company become a sponsor or donate to the festival?
